Born in 1973, I am a software engineer by profession. I graduated with a B.Eng (Hons) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University in 1996 and was awarded the E.R.A. Engineering Award the same year. After leaving university I gradually moved from Electronic Engineering to Software Engineering and for the last few years have been running my own Software and Internet Development company, HotLizard Ltd., with my business partner. We currently employ approximately approximately 30 staff and with profits increasing year-on-year. 2007 is set to be another fantastic year for HotLizard.
My photography interests were sparked as a child by my parents, with my first cameras being a Kodak Instamatic and a Fujica STX-1N. Photography had to take a back seat for me in the late 1990's and I re-caught "the bug" in about 2002.
Upon returning to photography I bought myself a Minolta Dynax 505si Super - my first "serious", detachable lens camera. Building up my kit and my skills, after a while I migrated to a Minolta Dynax 9. Mid 2003 I took the plunge and moved to digital with the purchase of a Canon EOS-10D. This was quite a big step as I had to sell all of my kit and start a-fresh. Fortunately, thanks to eBay, I was able to sell my old camera equipment for a good price and could consequently afford my new 10D.
August 2004 brought the delivery of my new Canon EOS 1D Mk-II, with May 2005 bringing the Canon EOS 20D on-board. My EOS 10D become an all important backup body to the 1D and 20D. Although the 1Ds has been tempting, the thought of losing the multiplier that comes with the 1D has kept me from taking the plunge so far. I will probably keep-an-eye on what Canon seek to bring out next.
My bank of equipment is constantly changing/expanding and further details can be found here. Also provided on the website is a Baggage Calculator to aid with the woes of packing camera gear within the airline limits.
