By Peter Hale & Chris Windram.
Book Description
Taken over a period of two-and-a-half years, Migration Plains is a photographic portrait of some of the animals that live on the route of The Great Migration, as well as those on the journey itself. Many of these animals are now close to extinction due to previous over-hunting, changes to their environment and climatic variation.
Migration Plains is aimed to be the ideal coffee table accompaniment for those who are passionate about wildlife, or with an interest in Wildlife Photography.
Synopsis
A photographic study of the plains and inhabitants of the Serengeti and Masai Mara.
From the Publisher
Migration Plains is the first in a planned series of photography books by Peter Hale and Chris Windram.
This book focuses on the wildlife of the Masai Mara and Serengeti. Predominantly pictorial, this full-colour book aims to bring pleasure to all who may read it.
From the Author
We live in a culture where a child can visit one of the most amazing areas of the world, sit in a 4x4 vehicle parked in front of a Cheetah and still continue to play on their computer game without so much as looking up. Meanwhile, their parents tick off "Cheetah" in the "I-Spy Book of Nearly Extinct Animals" before they all speed back to the hotel for a Gin-and-Tonic and a swim in the pool.
Visiting the Masai Mara and Serengeti has given us great pleasure, and taking photographs of its inhabitants has been a privilege.
It is crucial that this generation educate the next of the importance of preserving our global wildlife. We sincerely hope that, as well as bringing your enjoyment, that Migration Plains also provides a tool through which we can educate our children.
About the Author
Peter Hale
A relatively early adopter of Digital SLR technology, Peter migrated from film to the Canon EOS D30. He subsequently moved onto an EOS 10D/EOS 300D combination, and more lately the Canon EOS 1D Mk-II paired with an EOS 350D.
Peter was born in 1973 and, when not capturing the beauty and majesty of African wildlife through his lens, he works as a senior consultant at a marketing consultancy firm specialising in IT and Telecommunications.
Chris Windram
Also born in 1973, Chris developed his interest in photography at a young age starting with a Fujica STX-1N film SLR camera. Graduating through the Minolta Dynax range, from the Dynax 505si Super to the Dynax 9, he moved to his first digital SLR (a Canon EOS 10D) in 2003. He presently uses a combination of a Canon EOS 1D Mk-II, EOS 20D and EOS 10D cameras.
When not working at the successful software company which he co-owns, Chris spends as much time as he is able photographing wildlife in its natural habitat and has a particular love of the Masai Mara.
